Stephanie Ostapovich, Registered Massage Therapist
I graduated from Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy, 2200hour (2 year) program, in March of 2007. Since graduation I have worked in a massage therapy clinic, a physiotherapy clinic, and at the Cerebral Palsy Association massaging folks with CP and other physical and developmental disabilities.
These clinics have provided me with a great deal of experience in treatment massage – MVA’s, chronic shoulder dislocations, sprains and strains, sports injuries, chronic postural imbalances, nerve lesions, central nervous pathologies, and systemic conditions.
My interest in massage therapy began when I became a parent; it was my way of bonding and transitioning from nursing at bedtime. Touch …intentional touch has such a powerful affect on the soul. I have also seen the incredible benefits of massage on the disabled population (I have worked with this population for the last 7 1/2 years prior to massage school).
I love what I do – being a massage therapist. I love that massage can be a tool that facilitates and promotes body/posture awareness, general health awareness and can release old patterns the body is locked into (physically and emotionally). I talk to clients about the importance of maintaining physical, mental and spiritual health. Because I have been involved in yoga for so many years I encourage clients to stretch and to have quiet centering time. When I am massaging I am right there, I am mindful and thorough. I use the knowledge I have gained to assess and treat as well as allow my hands to intuitively feel the areas of stress.
